The format at a glance

Freestyle. Body control. Splash.

SPLASHDIVING combines freestyle diving, different landing positions and the visible splash on entry in a sport and event format. It centres on the athletes, their creativity and the shared visual language of the Jump Chart.

Its founder and developer is Oliver Hillebrecht, referred to as Oliver Schill in older publications. The format developed from a regional competition into world championships, shows, workshops and programmes for pools.

Telling the history accurately

Three milestones. One evolution.

2003

Regional origins

The Pecklamann Cup in Bayreuth marks the beginning. Contemporary coverage of the first championship refers to this regional predecessor. SPIEGEL

2004

The first cannonball worlds

Bayreuth hosts the first cannonball world championship. SPIEGEL identifies Oliver Schill as the creator of the championship format. SPIEGEL · 16.08.2004

An international brand presence

A contemporary organiser release documents Splashdiving as an internationally communicated format. This establishes a brand presence, not a legal registration date. Targetwire · 04.06.2007

Sport & formats

One original. Many stages.

Jump Chart

The historical Jump Chart by Oliver Hillebrecht (dated 2007 by the founder) provides the sport’s shared visual language. Today’s overview shows 13 landing positions. It is not a practical jumping guide; training requires suitable, approved facilities and qualified supervision.

Competition, show and first steps

Competitions, shows, workshops and Pool Bombs are planned around the facility and audience. Pools can prepare their own event or request tailored delivery support. The School Lab brings together teaching drafts and links to external resources; it is not a certified teaching method.

Formats for pools and organisers

Outlook · Planning as of 25 October 2026

2027. The next chapter.

Anniversary world championship

The target period is June/July 2027. Former championship participants, particularly gold, silver and bronze medallists, are intended to receive personal invitations. An internal shortlist covers 89 possible pools.

The host, specific date, participants and sponsors are not yet confirmed. Selection of a host can be discussed with prospective partners.

Jump-Chart-Tour

The plan targets 200 boards in 200 pools, from 15 May to 10 September 2027. It combines the Jump Chart with a sponsor panel; the advertising partner has not been selected.

These are board placements, not 200 events. Funding, facility permissions and site agreements remain part of the planning process.

Archive images and past media exposure do not establish participation, partnerships or guaranteed reach for 2027. Confirmed event information will be published in the Events section.

FAQ

For a sound fact check.

Who is Oliver Schill?

Oliver Schill is Oliver Hillebrecht’s former name. Older coverage and archive material use that name. Current enquiries should refer to Oliver Hillebrecht.

Is Bayreuth confirmed for the 2027 championship?

No. June/July 2027 is the target period. The host and specific date are not confirmed. The 89 possible pools form an internal shortlist, not a list of confirmed hosts.

Can historical media figures be quoted as current reach?

No. Figures in historical presentations belong to their stated period and measurement method. They must not be added to current social-media figures or treated as a forecast for 2027. We can assemble specific evidence on request.

Is every website photo free to reuse?

No. Permission relates to the specific image. The curated package has its own editorial usage terms. Please ask separately about other images, advertising, merchandise and moving images.

Can I request footage, interviews or filming?

Yes. Please specify your outlet, topic, desired interviewees, material, usage territory and deadline. Availability, rights, filming conditions and any production costs are agreed individually. A press enquiry is not automatic accreditation.

Is the Jump Chart a practical jumping guide?

No. It illustrates landing positions and provides a shared visual language. It does not replace qualified instruction, supervision or permission at a facility.
