Würzburg, 2010. More than the jump.

On 17 and 18 July 2010, the AREA 47 SPLASHDIVING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP came to Dallenbergbad in Würzburg. The web edition of the original highlight film brings together the jumps, the spectators and the medal ceremony. Watch the movement between take-off and landing, and the people who made the event their own.

2003 ARCHIVE · POOLSIDEOriginal clip · 7 sec

Peckla. Every eye on the water.

The tower fills the frame, with spectators gathered below. This short original clip follows take-off through to the splash. It comes from the Cup collection filed under 2003; an exact recording date has not been established.

2003 ARCHIVE · EARLY DIVE SCENESOriginal clip · 9 sec

Katz. A name from the early archive.

First the wait beside the railing, then movement above the water. The original file is named Katz.mpg. The scene stands on its own, without an invented competition score or instructions for attempting the dive.

2003 ARCHIVE · ONE DIVEOriginal clip · 8 sec

One dive. Everyone watching.

The camera follows the diver from the tower into the water, with spectators close to the pool behind him. The file Reiser5.mpg also survives under another name in a later collection. The footage appears here only once.

2003 ARCHIVE · SHORT ORIGINAL SEQUENCEOriginal clip · 4 sec

A few seconds. A moment of its own.

A short sequence from the early diving collection. Its surviving filename is Doppel Auerbach Peckla.mpg. We preserve that historical label without presenting it as a verified classification under today's terminology.

2003 ARCHIVE · TRAINING BERLINTraining clip · 4 sec

Oliver Hillebrecht. Training in Berlin.

Oliver Hillebrecht training in Berlin. The clip is filed under 2003 in the archive; born in 1969, he was around 34 at that time.

2004 COLLECTION · EARLY DIVE SCENESOriginal clip · 5 sec

Pecklamann. The original filename.

A dive in front of a crowded poolside. The 2004 collection calls this file PECKLAMANN.MPG, but its surviving file timestamp dates back to August 2003. The year filter identifies the collection, not an asserted recording year.

2004 COLLECTION · HISTORICAL LABELOriginal clip · 4 sec

Tsuki Peckla. An early filename.

The camera pans from the tower to the water and stays with the splash. TSUKI_PECKLA.MPG is the historical file label. This file in the 2004 collection also carries an August 2003 timestamp; that does not establish an exact event date.

2005 · ARD / Brisant · Archive collectionTV report · 26 sec

Brisant. A summer splash.

A quiet golf course gives way to water crashing over the edge of a pool. This web edition retains the pool segment of the archived Brisant recording: shared dives, the view from the tower and a camera close to the water. A brief television memory of the early Arschbombe years.

2005 · ZDF / Volle Kanne · Archive collectionTV report · 2:00 min

A is for Arschbombe.

Arschbombe gets its own letter in a summer alphabet. This report from the Volle Kanne collection moves between dives, the poolside and illustrated landing positions. The combination captures something of the early years: a familiar word becoming a sport with a language of its own.

2005 · RTL II News · Archive collectionTV report · 1:25 min

Heilbronn. The championship makes the news.

A news programme visits the competition: busy stands, dives and conversations beside the water. The report identifies Simon Gfeller on screen as the Arschbombe world champion. Preserved in the 2005 collection, the recording captures both the sporting scenes and television's view of a still-young community.

2005 · RTL / Punkt 6 · Archive collectionTV report · 2:22 min

Punkt 6. The reporter joins in.

First comes a conversation beside the pool; then the reporter is up on the tower herself. This archived Punkt 6 report follows her meeting with the team, the preparation and her dive. Its quieter moments matter too: talking together, looking up and taking one more breath.

2005 · Sat.1 / 17:30 live für Bayern · Archive collectionTV report · 1:23 min

17:30 live. Faces beside the pool.

The camera does more than follow the dives. It listens: Omme speaks into the microphone, while Florian Spiske is introduced on screen as national coach. Between the interviews are the stairs, the tower and the water. This short report preserves the people training together behind the sporting images.

2005 · n-tv · Archive collectionTV report · 5:02 min

Five minutes beside the competition pool.

The stands are busy, the tower rises above the water and each dive draws a reaction from the poolside. This n-tv recording gives time to the competition, conversations and spectators. For someone who was there, it may bring back not just a dive but a whole summer day.

2005 · KiKA LIVE · Archive collectionTV segment · 12:37 min

KiKA LIVE. Questions from the poolside.

Here, a conversation has room to breathe. KiKA LIVE moves between the outdoor pool, team interviews and the studio; the Jump Chart and its landing positions also appear. The programme explores the dives, sharing a pool and the questions young viewers ask. An extended themed segment from the early television archive.

2006 · WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPEvent film · 2:25 min

World Championship 2006.

A camera above the pool, athletes on the tower and smiling faces at the poolside. This short original film brings the jumps and the atmosphere around the competition together. The small moments between the landings belong here too.

2006 · CHRISTIAN “ELVIS” GUTHAthlete portrait · 4:28 min

Elvis. Beyond the pool.

This original portrait of Christian “Elvis” Guth moves between the diving tower, the city and acrobatics. Here is an athlete whose movement is not confined to the pool. A glimpse of the early scene, with room for more than a single competition jump.

2006 · Bayerischer Rundfunk · Archive collectionTV report · 2:46 min

Munich. From the entrance to the water.

The entrance banner reads “swim and splash ’06”. BR reporter Markus Langer begins outside the Olympic swimming hall in his jacket; later he takes part himself. The tower, the hall and the conversation afterwards offer a view of Splashdiving built around trying it rather than watching a final.

2006 · RTL II / Welt der Wunder · Archive collectionTV report · 3:38 min

Welt der Wunder. Watching the landing.

A tower against the sky; a camera waiting beside the water. This archived Welt der Wunder report alternates diving sequences with poolside conversations. Its repeated view of the landing invites a closer look at body position, the shape of the splash and the moment they meet.

2006 · Galileo · TV archiveTV report · 13:38 min

Galileo. More than the moment above the water.

The scorecards carry numbers. Behind them are people watching closely. This longer Galileo report introduced by Daniel Aminati gives them room alongside the dives and the conversations afterwards. It watches people waiting by the pool, gathering together and filling the spaces between the landings. Filed under 2006; the exact broadcast date is unconfirmed. This web edition ends before the following studio topic.

2006 · Classical diving · BackgroundTV background film · 14:47 min

Karen in Action. Understanding diving.

Karen stands on the platform, looks down at the pool and talks with the people who train here. Underwater footage and a shared look at recorded images add another view of the tower. This archive discovery shows classical diving, not a Splashdiving competition: a look at a neighbouring sport, not an explanation of Splashdiving technique. Filed under 2006 as “Karen in Action”. This is the supplied archive excerpt, not a verified complete television episode.

2006 · ZDF/Tabaluga TV attribution in the archiveTV archive report · 4:00 min

A conversation first. Then into the water.

Between the dives, there is time for questions. A young reporter talks with divers beside the indoor pool before the camera turns to the board and tower. That closeness makes this short film worth keeping: the conversation before a dive, a landing and a glance back towards the camera. The ZDF/Tabaluga TV attribution comes from the original filename in the 2006 folder; an exact broadcast date is unconfirmed. Colour bars and empty recording lead-ins have been removed.

2007 · WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPEvent film · Long cut · 5:28 min

World Championship 2007. The long cut.

Jumps, voices at the poolside and the view from the platform: the long cut gives the event more room. The original carries its period title, MENTOS SPLASHDIVING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2007. For those who were there, it brings back more than the landings.

2007 · TVenty · Championship archive collectionTV feature · 3:11 min

TVenty. In the middle of it.

A reporter overlooking the pool, conversations between dives, medals later in the day. TVenty makes room for the people taking part; an interview identifies Lisa Lehnhof on screen. Alongside the tower, the film preserves the close-up bustle of a competition day.

2007 · ZDF / hallo deutschland · Archive collectionTV report · 2:21 min

hallo deutschland. Waiting above, watching below.

From the studio, the report moves to the place where waiting becomes a dive. Alongside the action are scorecards, spectators following every attempt and the medal ceremony. This television memory from 2007 makes room for what surrounds those few seconds in the air.

2007 · RTL Nord / Guten Abend · Archive collectionTV report · 3:46 min

RTL Nord. Between training and competition.

Yellow team jackets outdoors, training beneath a hall roof, then the high tower over an outdoor pool. This RTL Nord recording connects different parts of the sport rather than chasing only the biggest splash. Conversations and walks through the baths reveal some of the everyday life behind the competition.

2008 · REGENSBURGATC3K promo · 1:25 min

Regensburg. Right in the movement.

At the Splashdiving tour stop in Regensburg, the camera comes along: down the slide, through the jump and under water. This ATC3K promo from the 2008 archive gets close to the sport. Raw footage, a grin into the lens and a view you cannot get from the poolside.

2008 · Mentos Splashdiving World Championship · Original archiveEvent film · 1:58 min

World Championship 2008. A pool full of stories.

Metal steps, a glance at the water, then the dive. This event film also watches the people below: spectators rising to their feet, faces beside the pool and a shared moment on the podium. The 2008 championship becomes more than a sequence of landings.

2008 · BR / Abendschau · Archive collectionTV report · 2:41 min

Abendschau. Paint on the back, water on the face.

Before the dive, someone is painting a competitor's back. Abendschau follows the preparations, the faces close to the pool and the delight of holding a medal. These small details make a competition day recognisable long after its last splash.

2008 · BR / Sport in Bayern · Archive collectionTV report · 1:39 min

Sport in Bayern. When the water settles.

The camera follows the action down and shows the water from below its surface. Then someone is back at the microphone, still close to the tower. This short Sport in Bayern report holds both moments together: movement and water, then a face and a conversation.

2008 · euronews / no comment · Nuremberg, 17 August 2008Short TV report · 52 sec

Nuremberg. No comment.

The caption gives the place and date: Nuremberg, 17 August 2008. No comment lets the pictures speak: dives, attentive spectators and two people high-fiving in the water. Shared delight matters as much here as the height of the tower.

2008 · nordbayern.de · Archive collectionVideo report · 2:09 min

Christian Guth, Uwe Schlicker and the wider picture.

Christian Guth speaks in front of the tower; Uwe Schlicker is introduced as head judge. Alongside the dives, this nordbayern.de report makes room for people explaining and supporting the competition. Names and contemporary roles become part of the record too.

2008 · Reuters · German archive editionTV report · 1:42 min

Reuters 2008. From the tower to the team photograph.

The opening belongs to the dives; later, a microphone comes to the poolside. Towards the end, people gather in front of the championship backdrop. Filed as the German Reuters edition, this recording connects competition images with the community behind them.

2008 · ITN / And Finally · English archive editionShort TV report · 1:11 min

And Finally. Another view of the championship.

The opening identifies ITN's And Finally. This edition begins differently from the Reuters report: with people in the water, before moving to the championship sign and the dives. Two edits of the same event preserve different ways of telling its story.

2008 · RTL Hessen / Guten Abend · Archive collectionTV feature · 4:27 min

Cord in the Act. The pink swimming trunks come too.

Pink swimming trunks are part of this story. The reporter does more than watch: he climbs the tower himself, meeting divers and judges along the way. The camera stays until he is back at the ladder. A television visit becomes a meeting in which the guest gets wet too.

2008 · münchen.tv · Archive collectionTV report · 2:59 min

münchen.tv. Two voices between the dives.

Two men share the camera, with the tower still visible behind them. Later the film moves close to the edge and down towards the water again. Filed under münchen.tv, the recording gives conversations room beside the competition action.

2008 · Sat.1 / 17:30 · Archive collectionTV portrait · 4:49 min

17:30. A diver, his people, his pool.

The focus is not a packed championship venue but a young diver at an outdoor pool. Others watch, hold a homemade sign and stay for the conversation beside the water. This portrait from the 2008 collection shows a personal side of the sport; a name will be added only when securely established.

2008 · virtualnights / Latest News · Archive collectionMagazine film · 2:58 min

virtualnights. One day, many viewpoints.

The camera looks up the tower, then stands beside the spectators. Flags, medals and a large group photograph belong to this magazine film as much as the dives. There are faces to rediscover beyond the landing itself.

2009 · GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIPEvent film · 1:39 min

German Championship 2009.

First the people at the poolside, then the movement on the tower: this compact original film shows the 2009 German Championship. Participants, platforms and water bring the different parts of a competition day together. Another glimpse into the history of the scene.

2009 · nrw-aktuell.tv · Grugabad Essen, 16 August 2009TV report · 1:46 min

Essen 2009. Between microphone and scorecard.

The original transmission slate names Essen's Grugabad and 16 August 2009. Christian “Elvis” Guth speaks to the microphone while judges turn their scorecards nearby. This recording preserves the closeness of spectators, athletes and competition, without the technical countdown.

2009 · Reuters / filed under Focus.de · Archive collectionTV report · 1:57 min

Reuters 2009. Passing the microphone.

First comes the view across the pool, then the camera moves among the people. A microphone passes between conversations, with dives and spectators in between. Filed under Reuters and Focus.de, this film preserves a short news-report view of the championship.

2009 · ARD / Brisant · EssenTV report · 2:46 min

Brisant in Essen. Before the big weekend.

There is talking, practice and diving beside the pool. The report introduces Peter Glatschke as the national coach and also speaks with Christian “Elvis” Guth. This Essen recording preserves the days before the result, with room for the lower board as well as the championship tower.

2009 archive collection · RTL / Guten AbendShort TV report · 27 sec

Guten Abend. A brief greeting from the tower.

A few seconds in the studio, then the outdoor pool takes over. The recording is filed in the 2009 collection, which does not establish its exact filming date. This brief television memory complements the longer reports without claiming another distinct competition.

2009 · RTL Bremen / Guten Abend · Archive collectionTV report · 1:06 min

Bremen. The crowd is under a roof.

These dives take place indoors. Athletes wait on the platform, spectators sit along the stands and an interview identifies Christian Guth as a Splashdiver. Later, a young participant takes her place on the board. A brief record of the sport in an indoor pool and the people joining in.

2009 · WDR / Lokalzeit Ruhr · Archive date 14 August 2009TV feature · 4:44 min

Lokalzeit Ruhr. A visit beside the competition pool.

The reporter stands where athletes leave the water and stop to talk. Lokalzeit follows conversations, high dives and the people staying beside the pool between attempts. Dated 14 August 2009 in the archive, the recording adds a view from just before the competition weekend.

2010 · Dallenbergbad, Würzburg · 17–18 JulyBest Of film · 2:59 min · HD

Würzburg 2010. The Best Of edit.

The same championship, a different edit. Labelled Best Of in the original, this film concentrates the images from the Dallenbergbad: raised hands, air moving beneath the water and the view across a busy pool. It complements the longer 2010 film as a distinct archive edit, not another event.

2010 · Felix Hirt · WürzburgAthlete portrait · 1:19 min · HD

Felix Hirt. World Champion 2010.

The original title names Felix Hirt and World Champion 2010. The film then follows one person: on the tower, in the water and speaking beside the pool. Others gather to welcome him back at the edge. This short portrait puts a face to a name in the championship's history.

2010 · Christian “Elvis” Guth · WürzburgHistorical event film · 2:08 min · HD

Elvis. The dive and the welcome afterwards.

The crane rises above Dallenbergbad. People stand close to the water; after the dive, the camera belongs to them. This film follows Christian “Elvis” Guth at the World Championship in Würzburg on 17 and 18 July 2010 and the welcome by the pool. Its original caption describes a world record from 40 metres, not a record verified as current today. This is a historical extreme-sport performance with a substantial event setup, not an invitation or instruction to attempt it.

2010 · Athlete film · WürzburgAthlete portrait · 49 sec · HD

Francois Waschke. A film of his own.

A look across the pool, small movements on the platform, then views above and below the surface. This compact film follows Francois Waschke at the 2010 World Championship in Würzburg. The original caption introduces him as a member of the German national team since 2008, a statement from that time rather than a current squad listing.

2010 · Ali Faris · WürzburgCompetition film · 2:05 min · HD

Ali Faris. Between the platform and the poolside.

Ali Faris is still on the platform, with spectators seated on the slope behind him. Soon the camera moves close to the water. This sequence of his competition footage opens with the caption “Men’s preliminary round, first dive” and keeps the moments of surfacing and swimming back. The original title dates it to the World Championship in Würzburg on 17 and 18 July 2010.

2010 · Christian von Cranach · WürzburgCompetition film · 8:14 min · HD

Christian von Cranach. Switzerland by the pool.

The red-and-white hat catches the eye first. Then the cape, the camera beside the platform and the people with Swiss scarves by the pool. Christian von Cranach’s longer competition film from Würzburg leaves room for these moments. Its first caption names him and his opening dive in the men’s preliminary round; later footage includes dives, judges and spectators. More than one landing survives from the 2010 championship: part of a shared day at the outdoor pool.

2010 · Christoph Weibel · WürzburgCompetition film · 2:00 min · HD

Christoph Weibel. Following the moment.

Sometimes the camera is close to the platform; sometimes it looks across the whole pool. Christoph Weibel’s film changes perspective while staying with one athlete. His name and “Men’s preliminary round, first dive” appear in the original captions. Preparation, flight, water and the return to the edge unfold at the 2010 World Championship at Dallenbergbad. Those transitions turn individual dives into a small competition story.

2010 · Janosch Mühlematter · WürzburgCompetition film · 3:35 min · HD

Janosch Mühlematter. Back to the ladder.

Water fills the frame and bubbles rise towards the surface. Janosch Mühlematter’s film does not stay on the tower: it follows the surfacing, the swim and the hand reaching for the ladder. The original captions begin with his first dive in the men’s preliminary round. The event title places the footage at the 2010 World Championship in Würzburg. A few minutes for one athlete and the small journeys between his dives.

2010 · Roberto Fisch · Junior finalCompetition film · 2:43 min · HD

Roberto Fisch. A view of the junior final.

From above, the platform edge meets pale blue water; from below, the tower stands against the sky. Roberto Fisch’s archive film moves between these viewpoints. Its opening caption is clear: “Junior final, first dive”. Judges and spectators on the grass also belong to these images from Würzburg in 2010. A close look at a final, with room for what happens around it.

2010 · Timo Imbach · Junior finalCompetition film · 2:50 min · HD

Timo Imbach. Waiting, diving, surfacing again.

Hands on hips, looking down. Spectators stand behind Timo Imbach by the pool, and the film takes its time before the movement begins. The opening caption identifies the junior final and his first dive. Platform views then alternate with images of the water and the people around it. This part of the 2010 championship does not end with one spectacular second.

The archive is growing as original footage is reviewed and prepared for the web. A video file loads only when you press play; until then, only its preview image is loaded. The web editions preserve the period look; the original files remain unchanged in the archive.

For the early clips from the 2003 and 2004 collections, the year identifies the archive folder. Recording dates and the names of everyone shown have not been established throughout. Identical footage preserved under different filenames appears only once.

These archive scenes are not instructions for jumping or attempting acrobatics. Train responsibly ↗
