Looking upwards.
A hat and sunglasses close up. Then the view opens onto an outdoor pool full of people. These July 2010 photographs move between personal closeness and the wider scene.
Among the crowd.
Perspectives sit close together beside the pool: a single face, world championship lettering, a row of people directly in front of the camera. Higher in the frame, spectators surround the water.
The wide view reveals what the close crop leaves out. In return, the portrait holds something almost invisible in the larger pool picture. Together, the photographs show the different sides of these two July days.

One camera meets another.
Blue fills almost the entire frame, a body forming a dark outline against it. In another frame, a video camera rises above the heads. The archive shows not only the sport, but part of the work that produces its pictures.
The photographs from 17 and 18 July 2010 preserve that shared scene: people coming together for the sport, and others following it with a camera. A dive lasts just a few seconds. Its photograph stays.
